HARDWOOD LUMBER GRADES
Hardwood lumber is graded using a different classification system than softwoods. Grades are based on the percentage of clear face cuts that can be made around a board’s defects ( knots, splits, pitch, pockets, and so forth. From highest grade (clearest) to lowest (most allowable defects), We price our lumber according to Grade, Green, Rough Sawn, & Wholesale factors so you can pay less a board foot (bf).
Calculating Board Feet
BOARD FEET:
"Board Feet" is a measurement of lumber volume. A board foot is equal to 144 cubic inches of wood. Actually it's easy to calculate using the following formula:
( Thickness in inches x Width in inches x Length in inches ) divided by 144 = Board Feet
